Everybody has their eyes on one person, Tiger Woods. Day 1 Tiger shot a respectable -2 which was 3 strokes away from leader Zach Johnson. Coming out of day 2 Tiger is tied for second and was one of the ONLY people to not add any strokes to his score. In fact not one person shot under par through the entire second day at the major. The harsh winds and fast greens had every golfer shaking in their boots. This links golf course is filled with deep rough and sand traps surrounding the greens. As Phil Michelson puts it "you win" referring to the golf course. Phil had a good day himself only loosing focus on a par 3 where he 4 putted for a double bogey. Angel Cabrera was an exciting golfer on the day leaving himself two shots out of the lead. He is one of the only golfers who looks like he is having fun while he plays. Although Miguel Jimenez stands alone as the leader of The Open Championship. He also is one of the skilled few to shoot par on day 2.
PREDICTIONS
My favorite to win the Open Championship is Angel Cabrera. He always seems to rise to the challenge when playing in majors and with his son as his caddy he looks more comfortable then ever. He is one of those golfers that can really smack the ball and is a very smart player taking calculated risks. He seems to always fade into the background and out of no where take the lead and win the majors. I love Tiger however his recent struggles on the last two days of the majors leave me skeptical. In fact during the last 6 majors Tiger Woods has been apart of he is -11 in the first two rounds however in the last two rounds he is a shocking +19, 30 shots worse! There are many other contenders to talk about in this tuff major however none have the heart and soul of my pick Angel Cabrera.
